Lorenzo Baldassarri, the Italian motorcycle racer, is returning to the MotoE class in 2025. After several years in the Superbike and Supersport World Championships, he is switching to the German Dynavolt intact GP team and taking part in the MotoE Motorcycle World Championship for the first time.
A career with highs and lows
"Balda" started his career in the Moto3 class in 2013 and switched to Moto2 in 2014. He celebrated several successes there, including five victories and a total of twelve podium finishes. He celebrated his first victory in 2016 at the San Marino Grand Prix. In the 2019 season, he even achieved three victories (Spain, Germany and Japan). Nevertheless, his career has not always been straightforward. After a promising start to the 2019 season, he was unable to maintain a consistent performance and switched to the Supersport World Championship in 2022. In the Yamaha Team Evan Bros, the Italian had excellent material and was the only opponent of the outstanding Dominique Aegerter for much of the season, finishing runner-up in the championship.
A new start in MotoE
After a brief stint in the Superbike World Championship, where he rode for the GMT94 Yamaha team, "Balda" has now found a new challenge in MotoE. The electric racing series is becoming increasingly important and offers exciting races. By switching to the Dynavolt intact GP team, he has opted for a successful team that won the MotoE world championship title in 2022 with Dominique Aegerter and in 2024 with Hector Garzó.
MotoE - an exciting future
MotoE is the electric class of the motorcycle world championship. With identical motorcycles for all teams, the focus is on rider skill and race strategy.
One of the biggest changes in MotoE is the change of motorcycle model. Since 2023, the Energica Ego Corsa will no longer be ridden, but the Ducati V21L. At 224.5 kilograms, this electric motorcycle from Borgo Panigale is almost 40 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. In conjunction with the approximately 150 hp of the electric motor, this should enable top speeds of up to 275 km/h. The race distance is shorter than in the other classes, which makes for action and excitement.
And the excitement continues to build, as the race calendar for 2025 promises a thrilling program with 14 races! It starts on May 10 in Le Mans and ends on November 8 at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal.
Especially cool: All race tracks were selected for their high proportion of renewable energy. MotoE is actively committed to sustainability and thus makes an important contribution to environmental protection.
Lorenzo Baldassarri's chances in MotoE
With his experience from various racing series, Baldassarri has the best qualifications for MotoE. The Intact GP team provides him with a professional environment in which he can fully exploit his potential. Intact GP won MotoE this year with Hector Garzó, who will also be "Balda's" teammate in 2025. Fans can look forward to seeing how he will perform in the new season.
